In 2018, Nikon entered the world of mirrorless cameras with the introduction of its full-frame Z6 and Z7 cameras. In the ensuing years, they’ve added the Z5, Zf, Z6 II, Z6 III, and Z7 II to their lineup, in addition to a wide variety of Nikkor S-mount lenses made especially for the Z series cameras.
Led by veteran photographer and tech guru Rick Berk, this online workshop guides you through correctly setting up the menus and understanding the focus and exposure systems of the Nikon Z5, Zf, Z6, and Z7 cameras. From autofocus modes to manual focus techniques, you learn how to achieve pinpoint accuracy in every image, ensuring your subjects are always perfectly sharp and well-defined. Additionally, we explore exposure settings and techniques to capture beautifully balanced and dynamically exposed images in any lighting condition.
But that’s just the beginning. We also delve into the creative tools and customization options that these cameras offer. Discover how to leverage features like picture controls, creative picture styles, and in-camera effects to add your unique artistic flair to your photographs, and explore how features such as time-lapse video, HDR, and focus stacking can expand your creative horizons. Furthermore, you learn how to customize your camera settings to streamline your workflow and adapt to various photographic scenarios seamlessly.
This hands-on workshop covers not only the original Nikon Z5, Zf, Z6, and Z7 models but also their updated versions, including the Nikon Z6 II & III, and Z7 II, ensuring that you are equipped with the latest knowledge and techniques for optimal performance.
This workshop spans two weeks, so you have time to test out the concepts you learn in class and time to do your homework. Yes, there is homework! But don’t worry, the homework is fun and designed to help fortify everything you learned during the workshop.
By the end of this workshop, you have the confidence and skills to maximize the capabilities of your Nikon Z series cameras, producing stunning images that showcase your creativity and vision. Whether you’re photographing landscapes, portraits, or action scenes, you have the tools and understanding to excel in every aspect of photography.
If you are new to mirrorless technology, a lifelong seasoned pro, or someone interested in picking up a camera again after a few years away, Rick welcomes everyone to this workshop.

Santa Fe Workshops always aims to produce a high-quality experience for our online attendees. That said, variables including regional and local internet provider speeds, traffic on Zoom's servers, and your own computing hardware can contribute to a less than ideal streaming event. While we do our best to minimize the impact of these variables, they are outside the control of Santa Fe Workshops.

For the convenience of participants, recordings of each class session are posted privately for one month after the end of each session. Santa Fe Workshops takes the recordings down after one month to protect the intellectual property of our instructors.
