Your iPhone is more than a camera; it’s a versatile creative tool that functions as a field camera, sketchbook, and studio all in one. In this new online webinar, photographer Renee Lynn shares her approach to using the iPhone to move beyond representational photography and create images that are expressive, layered, and deeply personal.
Drawing from her own photographic practice, Renee demonstrates over two sessions how techniques such as slow shutter, multiple exposures, camera movement, and layering transform everyday subjects into imaginative photographic interpretations rather than literal documents. Along the way, she introduces iPhone camera apps that expand the creative possibilities of mobile photography, giving you greater control over the image-making process while remaining intuitive and experimental.
As your photographs become more expressive, composition and editing play an equally important role. Renee shares practical approaches to organizing visual elements, building layered imagery, and using post-processing as an extension of the creative process. Whether working entirely on the iPhone or refining images in Lightroom and Photoshop Mobile, you learn how thoughtful editing strengthens both mood and meaning.
Because the iPhone is always within reach, it naturally encourages curiosity and a more spontaneous way of photographing. Whether you are on a morning walk close to home or traveling somewhere new, Renee shares ways to discover creative possibilities in everyday moments and transform ordinary scenes into photographs that reflect your own unique perspective.
This webinar is designed for photographers using an iPhone 12 or newer. The iPhone and its ecosystem of apps can be used as a complete creative camera on its own or integrated into an existing DSLR or mirrorless photography practice. By the end of this program, you have practical techniques for creating more expressive images, a fresh approach to seeing familiar subjects, and new ways to expand how you see, think, and create.

Santa Fe Workshops always aims to produce a high-quality experience for our online attendees. That said, variables including regional and local internet provider speeds, traffic on Zoom's servers, and your own computing hardware can contribute to a less-than-ideal streaming event. While we do our best to minimize the impact of these variables, they are outside the control of Santa Fe Workshops.

Renee Lynn is an American photographer based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She completed her studies in commercial photography at U.C. Berkeley and began her career as a photojournalist before she found her passion as a stock photographer specializing in nature and animal imagery. During this time, Renee was represented by Getty Images and Corbis Images. She co-authored the Nature column for Popular Photography and was published in major publications, including National Geographic books. Her animal imagery was used in advertising by Apple, Exxon, Jaguar, and the Discovery Channel, and she received the Addy Award for a VW ad campaign. Reaching out to others and supporting their professional development, she founded the NPPA Women in Visual Journalism Conference and Women in Nature Photography Conference.
Living in Santa Fe, a hub of contemporary art, Renee found inspiration to advance her craft within a vibrant community of creative talents. She expanded her work by exploring artistic photographic processes that transcend literal depiction, inviting viewers to experience photography in unexpected ways. This approach earned her four category wins in the professional section of the 2024 and 2025 Julia Margaret Cameron Awards for Abstract, Landscape, and Cell phone photography. Additionally, the Florida Museum of Photographic Art recognized her unique landscape work in their annual international exhibition. Renee’s fine art prints are represented by Edition One Gallery on Canyon Road in Santa Fe.
