Course Description

Are you ready to take your fine-art digital printmaking skills to the next level? Are you tired of inferior prints that waste your time and materials? Join fine-art digital printmaking pioneer R. Mac Holbert, as he shares his 28 years of digital optimization experience to expand your knowledge and provide much-needed clarity to the printing process.

In this online workshop spanning three days in November, Mac presents an all-important workflow focusing on the importance of editing sequence, too often ignored in fine-art digital printmaking. Learning proper sequencing is crucial for the amateur as well as the advanced digital printmaker. Mac covers topics that include the digital optimization pyramid, well organized layer stacking, framing a destination, image analysis, major image editing, global adjustments, regional adjustments, creative sharpening, blurring and noise, resampling, output sharpening, soft proofing, to the final output.

On Day One, Mac reviews his workflow philosophy and then presents his foundational principles for optimizing image files using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. At the end of the day he requests a RAW image from each participant. On Day Two he demonstrates his workflow techniques on half of the participant’s images while taking questions. And on Day Three he uses his workflow on the other half, again answering questions from the participants. Mac will send the optimized file to each participant.

Mac uses these techniques every day to create world-class digital output that is both non-destructive and flexible. He provides participants with a non-destructive sequenced workflow philosophy that is applicable to anyone involved in fine-art digital imaging. If you want to create the highest quality output, this is an experience you will not want to miss. Enrollment is limited to 10 participants, so register early.
