Pedro Correa is a poet with the camera, revealing the beauty of cities with what he calls “impressionistic photography.” In this new online workshop, Pedro introduces you to the concept of photographing with one eye of a painter and one eye of a street photographer. His goal is to open new dimensions and help you explore abstract photography like never before, with a clear aim of manifesting beauty in every scene, even where it could feel less apparent.
During the four group sessions of your three weeks together, Pedro shares his ideas for creating a homogeneous and impactful body of work, as well as techniques that help you imbue each selected image with a deep connection to the artistic project and the viewer. His presentations and discussions help you understand the principles of both technical image processing and fine-art ideologies. These become new tools on your artistic journey and to open a new way of seeing.
Pedro guides you through weekly assignments using the power of “creative constraints”, that help you use your camera to its full potential in order to capture impressionistic scenes relying only on in-camera techniques. Post-processing techniques and tools are also addressed, as ways to improve the scene and prepare it for printing. Using his experience as an exhibited artist, the complete workflow from camera to printing to exhibition is addressed. Pedro shares with you a panoramic view of the different principles, techniques, implicit and explicit rules that are needed in order to create an impactful artistic project. Join him for a workshop to change the way you see the world about you.

Santa Fe Workshops always aims to produce a high-quality experience for our online attendees. That said, variables including regional and local internet provider speeds, traffic on Zoom's servers, and your own computing hardware can contribute to a less than ideal streaming event. While we do our best to minimize the impact of these variables, they are outside the control of Santa Fe Workshops.

For the convenience of participants, recordings of each class session are posted privately for one month after the end of each session. Santa Fe Workshops takes the recordings down after one month to protect the intellectual property of our instructors.
Pedro Correa is a Spanish fine-art and architecture photographer, based in Belgium. With a PhD in image processing from the Louvain University and a degree in oil painting from the Academie Royales des Beaux Arts of Brussels, Pedro’s life has always revolved around the image, and our perception of reality. Clearly influenced by his painting background, his style was born by injecting the emotions of impressionism into the “decisive moment” of photography. In other words: photographing with one eye of an impressionistic painter and one eye of an urban image hunter.
“Pedro’s photographs capture both specific moments and a common mood. A Madrid-born Brussels resident who trained as a painter, Correa hops from London to Tokyo to Paris to San Francisco. Wherever he goes, it seems, he avoids the eyes of the people he observes. He’s a poet of urban isolation, or at least non-connection. Yet there’s a humanity to his work, if only because of its verve and curiosity.” – Mark Jenkins, art critic for The Washington Post.
Pedro’s works have been exhibited in galleries in Singapore, Hong Kong, Washington DC, Basel, Los Angeles, New York, London, Antwerp and Brussels. His prints are currently available through several galleries worldwide and have been acquired by notable private collectors including Edouard Vermeulen’s collection.
