Course Description

Editing images has become synonymous with photography in the digital age. What if you could spend less time behind the computer editing and more time out taking photographs while still accomplishing the look that you want? Presets and picture profiles have existed since digital cameras were created, but they are rarely a sufficient alternative to editing, until now.

Nikon has given users the ability to edit picture profiles for decades, but it wasn’t until the last couple of years that they introduced their flexible color profile on the Nikon Zf, Nikon Z6 III, Nikon Z5 II, Nikon Z50 II, and Nikon Z8. This new profile is what brought Nikon Recipes to life. Recipes are essentially picture presets that you can develop yourself or adapt from other creators with extensive creative control. The best part about Nikon Recipes is that they can be fully utilized while photographing raw images. This means you can take a beautiful image in the field with a recipe applied while still retaining all the data to edit the image later.

This new online workshop with Alex Armitage guides you through all things Nikon Recipes. Alex helps you create your own recipes using Nikon’s NX Studio, syncing cloud recipes from Nikon’s creative ambassadors, downloading recipes from your favorite creators, and how to utilize those recipes in the field. You also spend time getting your camera setup to streamline your photography experience by customizing your button layouts, setting up your i-Menu and My Menu, and recommended settings for different styles of photography.

The workshop consists of four sessions over two weeks, allowing you to ask questions along the way and practice in between sessions. By the end of your time with Alex, you are set up to spend more time getting images you enjoy right in camera, rather than being required to spend hours in front of a computer screen editing. You also come away with a much deeper understanding of setting up your Nikon camera and utilizing it more efficiently in the field.
