A finished image is built, not taken. In this new online program, Gabriel Isak shares his complete post-production workflow for creating surreal fine art photographs in Adobe Photoshop. Using two different images as case studies, he demonstrates how compositing, retouching, and color grading work together to create imagery that is minimal and graphic in aesthetic, yet rich in symbolism and emotion.
Beginning with RAW file development in Adobe Lightroom and Camera Raw, Gabriel covers both the technical and artistic considerations behind successful composites, including planning for continuity in light, shadow, perspective, and depth of field during capture. Throughout the two sessions, he emphasizes organization, non-destructive workflows, and techniques that maximize image quality while supporting visual storytelling.

Gabriel also discusses updated Photoshop workflows, including improved Smart Object integration across Camera Raw, transformations, Liquify, and non-destructive retouching, as well as enhanced color and vibrance adjustments within adjustment layers.
By the end of the program, participants gain a deeper understanding of professional compositing workflows, advanced retouching techniques, and cinematic image development in fine art photography. Each session concludes with a live Q&A.
This webinar is open to those with basic to intermediate Adobe Photoshop proficiency. All technical demonstrations will be conducted in Photoshop. It is recommended that participants download an updated version of Photoshop on their computer.
Class will meet 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (Mountain Time) on Saturday, October 3 and Saturday, October 10 (two online group sessions).
Zoom Video Conferencing software (available for no charge from Zoom.com) will be used to facilitate the class sessions. Further details will be emailed to registrants.
These live online sessions take place in the Zoom webinar format. The instructor is seen and heard, and students join in a view-only format. Students do not use their microphone or camera and are not visible on screen. Questions can be submitted through the Q&A feature and chat.
Santa Fe Workshops always aims to produce a high-quality experience for our online attendees. That said, variables including regional and local internet provider speeds, traffic on Zoom's servers, and your own computing hardware can contribute to a less-than-ideal streaming event. While we do our best to minimize the impact of these variables, they are outside the control of Santa Fe Workshops.
