Course Description

Adobe Photoshop is an incredibly powerful tool for artists of all mediums, and especially for photographers. This is an entry-level, in-person workshop that teaches you the fundamental skills to be proficient with the software. It is the perfect first step to build your confidence using Photoshop to complement your photographic workflow and creative practices.

An accomplished photographer and an expert in teaching Adobe Photoshop, Zach Taylor guides you on a technically based journey using step-by-step tutorials that are fun and easy to understand.

During this two-day class, Zach demonstrates the foundational tools of Photoshop for photographers and explains their various applications. He focuses on selections, blending modes, masking, layers, and how Photoshop technically manages your images. By the end of this course, you will master the fundamentals of this innovative software and lay a solid foundation for future artistic endeavors.

Basic computer skills are necessary.

Activity Level:
To get the most from your workshop experience, participants should be in good physical (mobility, stamina) and mental health. Come prepared for the high elevation of Santa Fe, long days, and seasonal weather. You must be able to carry your own photographic and personal gear at all times, both on campus and on location. You are responsible for being open and honest about your physical fitness, and we reserve the right to remove you from the workshop if we find your fitness to be less than that which you have described.

Zach Taylor

Zach Taylor has spent over ten years working as a digital artist. Exploring a number of topics surrounding the mundane, his work is humorous yet powerful in its willingness to discuss the taboo of human nature. As of late, he has become an apprentice to a neon artist and is pushing his work into the world of installation.

Previously employed as the Digital Lab and Online Learning Manager at SFW, he has had extensive training and education from a number of artists and educators. With years of experience teaching, he strives to push the boundaries of how others create within the medium of photography.
