Expand the physical possibilities of your cyanotype practice with this four-week online workshop with photographic artist Morgan Ford Willingham. Introduced by Sir John Herschel in 1842, shortly after the introduction of the photographic medium, cyanotype is a contact-print process that is known for its deep-blue coloration and rich contrast.
Though paper has been the traditional surface that most beginning cyanotype artists learn with, it is applicable to a variety of substrates that overlap this photographic medium with a variety of disciplines. Over the four Saturday mornings of this workshop, Morgan introduces you to the required setup necessary to create cyanotype prints on fabric, using several different surfaces, and considers the expansive nature of what can be done with these fiber-based images.
Morgan writes, “Photography serves as the foundation from which layers of meaning are imbued through the incorporation of symbolic materials and processes. The physical interaction in the creation of each piece provides a ritual outlet and space to meditate on the connection between the artist and the artwork and how each piece embodies a facet of my identity.”
Come and play with Morgan and others interested in handmade alternative images as you explore together and push the boundaries of the alluring cyanotype process.
This workshop is open to all photographers. Experience making cyanotypes is helpful but not required

Santa Fe Workshops always aims to produce a high-quality experience for our online attendees. That said, variables including regional and local internet provider speeds, traffic on Zoom's servers, and your own computing hardware can contribute to a less than ideal streaming event. While we do our best to minimize the impact of these variables, they are outside the control of Santa Fe Workshops.

For the convenience of participants, recordings of each class session are posted privately for one month after the end of each session. Santa Fe Workshops takes the recordings down after one month to protect the intellectual property of our instructors.
