Daile Kaplan is a photography specialist for PBS’s Antiques Roadshow, as well as a collector, author, appraiser, and curator. She spent three decades as Vice President and Director of Photographs and Photobooks at Swann Auction Galleries, in New York, where she organized 90 sales, sold more than 60,000 classical, contemporary and vernacular photographs and photobooks, and set numerous world auction records. She has lectured at numerous museums, universities, and appraisal associations. Daile coined the term “pop photographica” to describe a new genre of collectibles reflecting the convergence of photography and popular culture. She serves on the board of directors of the Photographic Preservation and Conservation Group and was also a board member of the Appraisers Association of America for ten years.
