As photographers, our goal is to share a unique vision with the world. However, turning that vision into a compelling portfolio presents many challenges. The Portfolio Class, led by photographer Jean (Gino) Miele, offers a six-week journey focused on refining, sequencing, and presenting your work with clarity and impact.
Gino’s expertise helps you select your best images, craft a cohesive narrative, and arrange your portfolio to evoke a lasting emotional response. This online workshop goes beyond simply choosing strong images; it presents an opportunity to recognize the deeper stories in your work, uncover patterns, and explore themes that elevate your presentation.
Through group discussions, portfolio reviews, and post-processing tutorials, you gain the tools and insights to create a body of work that truly resonates. Over six group sessions, we collaborate to refine your portfolio, enhance visual rhythm, and discover processing styles that best communicate your vision.
Whether building your first portfolio or refining an existing one, this workshop suits photographers who want to go beyond “good” images and create a portfolio that genuinely reflects who they are. For those seeking a community to help take their work to the next level for publication, exhibition, or sale, this is the place. Join us and build something extraordinary—together.
Participants must come to class with a project or body of work to share with the group. This workshop is designed for photographers seeking guidance in editing, visualizing their narrative, and refining their portfolios.
A willingness to participate, share your work, and engage in constructive feedback is key to success in this course.
Additionally, participants must be able to download and select images using image editing software for class sessions.
Class will meet 12:30 – 2:30 pm (Mountain Time) on Tuesdays starting October 7 and ending November 11 (six online group sessions). Enrollment is limited to 12 participants.
Zoom Video Conferencing software (available for no charge from Zoom.com) will be used to facilitate the class sessions. Further details will be emailed to registrants.
Santa Fe Workshops always aims to produce a high-quality experience for our online attendees. That said, variables including regional and local internet provider speeds, traffic on Zoom's servers, and your own computing hardware can contribute to a less than ideal streaming event. While we do our best to minimize the impact of these variables, they are outside the control of Santa Fe Workshops.

For the convenience of participants, recordings of each class session are posted privately for one month after the end of each session. Santa Fe Workshops takes the recordings down after one month to protect the intellectual property of our instructors.
Jean “Gino” Miele’s photographs explore the borderlands between fiction and reality, and reflect his lifelong interest in perception, spirituality, and mysticism. His images remind us that moments of perfection are possible, and that we create our own reality. He believes every photograph is an act of transformation, and that the photographs we make tell us more about ourselves than about what was in front of the lens.
Gino’s photographs have appeared in thousands of publications. His artwork has been exhibited internationally and acquired by collectors worldwide. Gino has taught at Santa Fe Workshops since 2003. His primary goals are to demystify digital technique and empower students to realize their own photographic vision.
