Course Description

This immersive 5-day workshop is designed for photographers who want to photograph with confidence, edit with intention, and walk away with a polished print—using the camera in their iPhone. Whether you are transitioning away from bigger cameras or looking to elevate your mobile workflow, this comprehensive experience gives you everything you need to create professional-quality images anywhere using the camera in your pocket.

Across five inspiring days in historic Santa Fe, you learn the technical features that make the iPhone camera surprisingly capable, explore must-have accessories that expand your possibilities, and practice photographing in a variety of real-world environments—from sweeping landscapes to street scenes and portraits. With guided instruction in the Lightroom mobile app, you develop a streamlined editing workflow right on your phone and craft a style that feels uniquely yours.

This workshop covers the following features of your iPhone camera and its capabilities:

  • Comprehensive overview of photographing with the iPhone camera, including exposure, f-stop, and other adjustments
  • Optimizing iPhone settings for best possible image quality
  • Navigating iPhone settings for portrait, street, and fast-moving scenarios and subjects
  • File types generated by the iPhone camera and the differences between photographing in HEIC, JPEG, and ProRAW
  • Editing capabilities of the Lightroom mobile app
  • Digital workflow and steps for transferring images from your iPhone to a computer
  • Digital printmaking directly from your iPhone using mobile apps

Unlike passive lectures, this workshop is built around doing. Every day includes hands-on field sessions, in-class editing time, and supportive critiques to strengthen your eye. The week culminates in creating and printing your own final image directly from the iPhone—a tangible reminder of how far your mobile photography has come.
