Blurb and the Artist Book

with Dan Milnor

February 3 – 24, 2026

Tuesdays; 12:30 – 2:30 pm (Mountain Time)
  • Tuition $595.00

Course Description

Even in the Digital Age, print remains a vital part of the creative arts. Many of the most celebrated photographers will tell you that what they desire most is “a book deal,” and for good reason. Printed work provides a tangible, lasting way to share a vision. Modern technology has provided creative professionals with new tools and pathways for bringing their work into print, opportunities that were once limited to those with access to traditional publishers.

Dan Milnor, Blurb’s Creative Ambassador and a serial self-publisher, brings his extensive experience to this new online workshop. Over four sessions, he guides you through the Blurb platform and offers insights on producing high-quality books and magazines, from single copies to larger runs. Beyond the tools themselves, Dan explores strategies for designing, curating, and promoting your publications.

This program explores a range of case studies, from traditional monograph-style books to zines and experimental artist books, demonstrating these strategies in action. Throughout the workshop, you work on your own publication, with homework assignments that encourage experimentation and reflection between sessions. Group reviews led by Dan offer opportunities for feedback and conversation, helping you refine your work. The workshop is ideal for anyone curious about making a book, eager to experiment, and ready to bring your creative vision into the tangible world.
