Course Description

Exploring the concept of creating while mothering involves understanding the dynamics of creativity amidst the responsibilities of parenthood. Creative individuals must adeptly maneuver through the paradigm shifts and practical constraints inherent in raising children. The interplay between nurturing new life and pursuing one’s own creative endeavors raises questions about whether parenthood hampers or enhances creativity.

In this online workshop, photographer Amy Harrity guides participants through artist’s work and methodology to assist creative mothers in processing their evolving identity. By exploring the intricacies of motherhood, from moments of profound joy to the challenges and complexities of balancing personal growth with nurturing others, participants gain a deeper understanding of their own journey.

Each session provides a comprehensive lecture and a meticulously crafted photographic assignment centered on themes of motherhood. These prompts are designed to inspire reflection and encourage participants to explore the varied dimensions of their experiences as mothers.

Active engagement is essential as students share their new work for group critique sessions, fostering a supportive creative community. Join Amy online this spring to uncover the vibrant connection between motherhood and creativity.
