Course Description

Join Maggie Taylor on a magical carpet ride exploring the new world of AI-powered image generation tools and how specifically they can help you create artful digital composites. She is excited to share what she has learned about using artificial intelligence to provide source material for her digital collages.

During two-hour sessions on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, Maggie gives an overview of the current options for AI image generation from the artist’s point of view, including her two favorites: Midjourney and Adobe Firefly. She shares the advantages and disadvantages of each program and then explains her method of diving into the happy madness of allowing a Bot to create an image with you. Crafting text prompts and embracing the chaos, Maggie is able to spin out unexpected elements, and then carefully weave them into a multi-layered collage.

No previous experience working with these AI programs is required as Maggie provides a clear outline of the steps to work with each platform; however, Adobe Photoshop skills are helpful—especially when making a selection and masking elements.

Participants will be able to download handouts and a number of the same files Maggie uses and access recordings of the Zoom sessions to rebuild the images on their own as a teaching tool. Each group session consists of 90 minutes of insights and demonstrations from Maggie, followed by 30 minutes for questions and answers. Join Maggie for this entertaining and comprehensive presentation on how to harness the power of AI-generated content for your digital composites.
