Course Description

Food photography is an evolving sector of the picture-making world, and this informative, hands-on workshop lays out the best practices for achieving successful images, highlighting the tricks and tips that make food look its mouthwatering best.

Powell Jordano begins by discussing creative and technical workflow, addressing how to formulate ideas and use software like Capture One to strengthen and organize your vision. He also provides insights into basic gear and camera settings, alongside a brief overview of strobe usage.

Through demos, you discover how to shape available window light and emulate natural light with flash. After the demos, participants are encouraged to create photographs employing the techniques they learned, and our final session includes a group showcase and critique. Leading up to the final session, Powell provides one-on-one personal feedback for your images created during the workshop.

To expand our understanding of great food photography, we are joined by a professional food stylist who shares aesthetic and collaborative tips. They cover basic tools used in styling, tricks to enhance the visual appeal of food, and resources to further your education.

For those wanting to expand their photographic interests and break into food photography, or enthusiasts looking to improve their delicious pics, Powell shares his expertise for producing evocative images that push the creative envelope and make viewers crave what they see on the plate.
