Course Description

Photo zines, handcrafted and self-published, offer a versatile platform for creative expression. Easy to make and distribute, they serve as unique book art, effective promotional tools for exhibitions, personalized calling cards for networking with curators, and items that can be sold via subscriptions or in bookstores

Join Jeff Phillips for this intensive five-day workshop in the book haven of Santa Fe, designed to guide creators of all skill levels through the complete process of crafting photo zines. We kick off our exploration with an engaging tour of the expansive photo zine world, exploring the newest releases by established and emerging photographic artists.

During this energizing program, participants engage in demonstrations, class discussions, hands-on construction, and hand-sewn binding exercises, developing their personal vision for photo zines. By the workshop’s conclusion, each attendee designs, sequences, edits, prints, and hand-binds at least three photography zines. These handcrafted book objects serve as artistic creations and effective tools for impressing clients and gaining exposure in the arts community.

This workshop caters to individuals seeking to broaden their artistic range and delve into innovative methods for presenting their photographic work.

Whether you aim to boost visibility for your portfolio, revitalize a stagnant project, or explore self-publishing before committing to a traditional photobook, this workshop with Jeff guides you in enhancing your skills and certainty in the self-publishing realm. Uncover the simplicity of sharing your work with the world!
