Course Description

If you think desktop publishing apps aren’t for you, think again. These specialized programs are ideal for showing off your work—the difference between turning up with your prize prints in a tatty old carrier bag or laying down an elegant leather-bound portfolio.

Adobe InDesign and the low-cost, no-subscription Affinity Publisher are tools that allow you to present your work at its best, whether in slides or e-books, fliers or newsletters.

Niall Benvie walks you through all aspects of Affinity Publisher, helping you determine your audience, hone your concept, and establish a hierarchy of information. You learn how to map and lay out each section using rulers, grids, and baseline guides, as well as integrate your work with other Affinity apps.

In addition to choosing, editing, and embedding our images, we cover the basics of color management, typography, and export settings (not to mention basic troubleshooting).

Between engaging in regular assignments and exploring templates that help you fast-track your progress, you broaden your creative practice and gain confidence in packaging your digital files in forms that impress viewers.

Come hone the skills you need to design beautiful PDF e-books and newsletters, information-rich JPEG slides, and eye-catching, press-ready fliers—all the things that allow your work to shine.
