Course Description

Join award-winning creative director, photo editor, and visual journalist Kira Pollack for an immersive seminar that explores the intersection of storytelling, technology, and visual media. With over 20 years of experience in creative leadership roles at Vanity Fair, Time and The New York Times Magazine, Kira has a proven track record of producing groundbreaking editorial and journalistic stories.

In this online seminar, participants learn how various storytelling disciplines were integrated to create compelling narratives that resonate across multiple platforms. Kira shares insights on the evolving landscape of technology in visual journalism, including her current work with AI and archival platforms.

This engaging program explores the frontiers of digital storytelling, examines the influence of powerful photographs on journalism, and unveils the behind-the-scenes challenges and inspirations of compelling visual narratives. By the end of the three hours together, participants gain valuable skills and perspectives on crafting dynamic stories that harness the power of visual media and technology.

Class will meet 11:00 am – 2:00 pm (Mountain Time) on Saturday, March 1.

Zoom Video Conferencing software (available for no charge from Zoom.com) will be used to facilitate the class sessions. Further details will be emailed to registrants.

Kira Pollack is a creative and imaginative storyteller. Her awards include two news and documentary Emmy awards, the Lucie award for Photo Editor of the Year, World Press Photo of the Year, two National Magazine Awards, two Webby Awards, the Edward R Murrow Award, White House National Press Association, and numerous awards from Art Directors Club, SPD, American Photography, and PDN

Kira is also a Primetime Emmy nominee and an IDFA finalist. She has served on the prestigious juries of World Press Photo, Overseas Press Club, IDFA Doclab, the Tribeca Film Festival, Instagram/Getty Grant, and the W. Eugene Smith Grant among others. Previously, Kira worked at TIME Magazine, The New York Times Magazine and The New Yorker.
