























Step into a workshop that transforms self-portraiture into a tool for emotional exploration and personal empowerment. Using mirrors, shadows, masks, and symbolic props, you create images that reveal hidden parts of yourself and express complex emotions. Photographer Sonia Goydenko leads guided exercises, journaling prompts, supportive group discussions, and image reviews help you process your inner world while developing your photographic voice. This new online workshop is perfect for photographers, artists, and seekers ready to explore vulnerability, reclaim agency, and turn emotion into art.
Drawing inspiration from the work of Frida Kahlo, Lee Friedlander, Ximena Echague, Arthur Tress, Karl Baden, Cindy Sherman, and Sonia Goydenko’s Substack article, “Empowering Women Through Self-Portraiture,” the workshop emphasizes agency, empowerment, and reclaiming one’s own image while engaging deeply with inner experiences.

Join Sonia in an intimate online workshop environment for both creative growth and emotional insight using the self-portrait process.
Working knowledge of digital workflow and manual mode on your digital SLR or mirrorless camera. Participants must be able to download and select images using image editing software for class sessions.
Class will meet 10:00 am – 12:30 pm (Mountain Time) on Saturdays starting May 2 and ending May 23 (four online group sessions). Enrollment is limited to 12 participants.
Zoom Video Conferencing software (available for no charge from Zoom.com) will be used to facilitate the class sessions. Further details will be emailed to registrants.
Santa Fe Workshops always aims to produce a high-quality experience for our online attendees. That said, variables including regional and local internet provider speeds, traffic on Zoom's servers, and your own computing hardware can contribute to a less than ideal streaming event. While we do our best to minimize the impact of these variables, they are outside the control of Santa Fe Workshops.

For the convenience of participants, recordings of each class session are posted privately for one month after the end of each session. Santa Fe Workshops takes the recordings down after one month to protect the intellectual property of our instructors.
Sonia Goydenko is an award-winning, internationally exhibited street and fine art photographer whose work has been recognized by prestigious festivals, including the Italian Street Photo Festival, Miami Street Photo Festival, and Aussie Street Photography Festival. Sonia’s work has been published by a range of esteemed publications such as Huffington Post, Eyeshot Magazine, and The Pictorialist, and is part of the celebrated book Women Street Photographers. Her photography has been exhibited in various galleries worldwide, such as Umbrella Arts, Trieste Photo, Contact Photo, and Plaxall Gallery.
With a rich background as a guest lecturer at the School of Visual Arts and a judge for Italian street photography competitions, Sonia brings unparalleled insight into the world of photography. She’s a member of the New York City Street Photography Collective, regularly teaches photography workshops, and offers personalized portfolio reviews online. With a dedicated commitment to nurturing emerging talent, Sonia has helped many aspiring photographers towards acclaim in some of the most renowned festivals and competitions, such as LensCulture, Italian Street Photo Festival, and Women Street Photographers Exhibitions. Sonia splits her time between Santa Fe and New York City.
