Course Description

In a world shaped by towering structures and evolving cityscapes, photography offers a unique lens for documenting the built environment and the stories within it. Architecture and photography have long been intertwined, reflecting the cultural, social, and historical forces of their time. From striking skylines to intimate urban corners, each photograph captures a distinct perspective on the spaces that define our lives.

In this new online workshop, architectural and landscape photographer Jade Doskow leads students through an artful study of urban photography. By analyzing key images of city spaces, students explore the intersection of time, place, and change, considering both the conceptual and visual elements that shape urban environments.

Through lectures, discussions, and hands-on assignments, participants investigate how photography reflects and shapes our understanding of the urban landscape. Group image reviews led by Jade focus on both technical and conceptual approaches, and attention to editing in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom is also explored. By the end of the workshop, students create a focused portfolio that captures their interpretation of city landscapes and the stories they tell.
