Course Description

In this two-part webinar, photographer Heather Evans Smith guides participants through her photographic storytelling methodology, providing insights into her artistic approach and the powerful theme of memory and use of color that define her personal narratives.

The first session focuses on memory, illustrating how Heather integrates this theme to create compelling storytelling imagery. There are a great many ways to explore memory in photography, so Heather covers a wide range of photographic techniques, including still-life and portraits. She also discusses the use of metaphor in her picture-making process. The second session focuses on Heather’s application of color and its critical role as a narrative element in photography. She shows and discusses her various series to illustrate the impact color has on her artistic pursuits.

At the end of each evening, there is a Q&A segment, allowing for an interactive discussion with Heather. Participants walk away gaining valuable insights and inspiration for crafting their own unique narratives that are enhanced by color and memory.
