about André

André Gallant is a Canadian freelance photographer who travels the world taking expressive photographs. He is the author of several books, including Innovation: Creating Expressive Images and Inspiration: Creative Photography Projects. He teaches photography workshops with well-known Canadian photographer Freeman Patterson, with whom he co-wrote Photo Impressionism and the Subjective Image, as well as the revised edition of Photography for the Joy of It. He lectures throughout Canada, the US, as well as internationally.

A regular contributor to Photo Life, André’s work has appeared in numerous magazines such as Outdoor PhotographerCanadian CameraCanadian GardeningCanadian LivingGardening Life, and En Route. He is the recipient of two National Magazine Awards for his photography. André continually experiments with new visual approaches and techniques in both his professional and personal photography, and he generously shares his ideas and expertise, in either English or French, and he resides in Saint John, New Brunswick.
