Letha Wilson’s childhood in Colorado continues to influence her work, which brings together landscape photography and sculpture through an ongoing exploration of materials and form. She embeds photographs of natural landscapes into sculptural works, creating unexpected combinations of weight and lightness, density and play. The natural world remains both the subject and inspiration for her work.
Born in Hawaii and raised in Greeley, Colorado, Letha now works in Taghkanic and Brooklyn, New York. She holds a BFA from Syracuse University and an MFA from Hunter College, and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including Mass MoCA, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, and the Columbus Museum of Art. Her work has been featured in Artforum, The New York Times, The New Yorker, and Artsy. In 2024, her first institutional solo exhibition, Cut, Bend, Burn, was presented at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art.
