Hello! I’m Montse and work both as an Instructor and Facilitator for SFW. I work with our wonderful instructors to ensure they have everything they (and our students!) need to run the class smoothly. Additionally, I will be teaching a course on Creative Writing (Hybrid Forms in Literary Nonfiction)!
I am named after a mountain just outside Barcelona, Spain where I spent my early childhood. I grew up in a cultural stew, with a Spanish/French mother, Colombian-born (and raised) American father and Argentine stepmother. My nomadic parents took me from Washington D.C. to Barcelona, Spain, to Vermont, and eventually to Boston. I have since lived in a handful of other places including London, New York City, San Francisco, and Portland (Oregon).
I have worked in various areas of the art world: artist relations, programming, and global marketing for companies including Sony Music, Pandora Media, a few non-profits (such as the San Francisco Symphony, Boston Ballet), and Goodreads where I ran the author visit program.
I received my B.M. from Berklee College of Music, M.S. from Boston University and am a MFA in Writing candidate at Vermont College of Fine Arts.
Currently I divide my time teaching, writing, making photos, and creating my podcast “Musings of the Artist.”
