Lilit (Lilo) Danielyan is an Armenian-American photographer and filmmaker whose work is centered around subjects of migration, belonging, and nostalgia. She is an artist-photographer for the book Dear Maine: The Trials and Triumphs of Maine’s 21st Century Immigrants.
Lilo was born in Armenia but grew up in Central Kazakhstan, where her family relocated shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In 2012, Lilo moved to the United States to further her education.
In 2021, Lilo’s work Along the Closed Borders was recognized at the international College Photographer of the Year competition in the Documentary category (CPOY 76) and published in Meduza. In 2022, Lilo’s project Landscapes of Home won the first prize in the international iDiaspora Photo Contest.
She studied documentary photography at Docdocdoc and 16 mm narrative cinema at The Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague. She earned her BA in Psychology at Smith College. Since 2023, Lilo has been a Member of Women Photograph.
