Course Description

We all know when a photograph moves us, captivates us, and inspires us. The feeling an image awakens or a memory that emerges from a photograph is unmistakable. The power of photography to stir emotions is oftentimes what attracts us to this medium. We call these compelling images impactful because they touch us at our emotional core – in our souls.

This popular workshop with Christopher Michel explores the idea of where impactful images come from within us, and how to make them on a consistent basis no matter where we are in the world – at home or traveling to far-off lands. The class will be mainly focused on photographing people in their environment – making images of both models and locals in compelling settings.

During this fascinating week with Christopher, prepare to go deep in search of photographs with impact. Learn to capture the essence of places and people you discover as you move through life. Discover how photography can enrich your days at home as well as on your travels when you engage locals and landscapes with the help of your lens. Christopher fills the week with daily lectures, discussions, field trips to make new images, group image reviews, and one-on-one sessions with each participant.

For participants wanting to stay at Hotel Posada de la Aldea, double accommodations are $415 per person for 6 nights, Wednesday through Monday, (for couples taking workshops and friends traveling together) or $830 per person, single accommodations for 6 nights, Wednesday through Monday. Additional nights at the hotel can be arranged for participants; please discuss needs with the Administration Office in Santa Fe.

This workshop helps you capture moments and create enduring images that vividly recall your adventures so you may share them with others. Move from taking pictures of what people and places look like to creating photographs that touch hearts and minds.
