Santa Fe Workshops collection of free online events, Creativity Continues, features a magical winter’s evening as fine-art photographer Jari Poulin shares her ongoing love affair with Polaroid art making.

The once omnipresent Polaroid is making a remarkable comeback after suffering bankruptcy in 2001 followed by a revival in the form of a European company known as The Impossible Project. Most recently, a newly formed Polaroid is making waves again for many who have grown bored with digital imagery. The signature “Polaroid look” and instant photography are now back as a creative alternative.

Jari’s presentation follows her creative journey exploring the magic of Polaroid from her start in the 1990’s making photo emulsion transfers which she then hand-colored to her rekindled experimentation of the medium while incorporating Polaroid work into her daily artistic practice. Jari says, “we are entering a whole new era for instant film devotees and interdisciplinary artists. Whether it’s documentary, collage, mixed-media, experimental, or concept driven – Polaroid once again offers a means of endless artistic expression that begins with that certain Polaroid look, feel and palette.”

Jari ends her presentation with a Q & A session with the webinar audience. Even if you can’t make the live event, a recording of it will be available for all those registered.

Creativity Continues is a program that collectively develops creative voices by offering connection and encouraging expression. Because the goal is to engage all within our creative community, we encourage you to extend invitations and share Santa Fe Workshops Creativity Continues events with anyone who expresses an interest.
