Humanistic Storytelling with Genaro Molina

Event Date: Tue, Feb 10, 2026 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM MST

Santa Fe Workshops free online event series, Creativity Continues, features a special Tuesday evening event in February with Los Angeles Times staff photographer Genaro Molina, whose work captures life in transition with striking humanistic storytelling. Known for photography that combines content and artistry, Molina has documented historic moments and social issues for decades, creating a visual record that is both timely and timeless.

Born in San Francisco, Molina studied photojournalism at San Francisco State University and began his professional career at the San Francisco Chronicle. Over the years, he has covered stories ranging from AIDS in Africa and Pope John Paul II in Rome to Hurricane Katrina, Cuba after Castro, California migrant farm workers, and the homeless crisis in Los Angeles.

Throughout his career, Molina has navigated the evolving landscape of photojournalism, adapting to technological and cultural shifts while allowing these changes to shape and enhance his creative practice. He emphasizes the importance of feeding creativity by engaging with culture, art, literature, music, and travel. In this presentation, Molina shares his personal philosophy, offering insights into how he connects with subjects, creates compelling storytelling photographs, and maintains a distinct personal style and vision in a fast-changing professional environment.

Genaro concludes the program with a live Q&A session with the webinar audience. For those unable to attend live, a recording is available to all registered participants.

Creativity Continues is a program that collectively develops creative voices by offering connection and encouraging expression.
