Registration Policies
Since enrollment is limited, we encourage you to apply early. Call to check availability before registering. Please do not make travel plans before registering or being told a workshop is a “go.” We encourage you to choose more than one workshop in case your first choice is full. Assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registration for workshops and trips is best done online or, if necessary, over the phone by calling (505) 983-1400 x111 with your American Express, MasterCard, Visa, or Discover Card. We cannot hold space in a workshop without a deposit. Once your deposit has been received you will receive an email confirmation.
For Workshops in the Continental U.S.
$400 deposit is required at the time of registration
Balance is due no later than 30 days prior to the start of the workshop. Please review the Program Policies below for more details. NOTE: Late payments are subject to a 5% fee on balance due.
For Workshops outside of the Continental U.S.
$1,500 deposit is required at time of registration (some exceptions apply)
International programs have individual policies. Please review the Program Policies below for more details. NOTE: Late payments are subject to a 5% fee on balance due.
More information will be emailed once the minimum number of participants is reached. Final payment of your balance may be made online with credit card or by check payable in U.S. funds.
Sales tax may be charged on online or domestic classes based on the location of the class, your location and current Nexus taxation laws between NM and other states.
The minimum age requirement to take any workshop is 18 and we kindly request that alumni of the workshops not repeat the same instructor’s workshop in the same location in consecutive years.
2023 COVID-19 Update: For all in-person workshops and trips in 2023, Santa Fe Workshops highly recommends that all participants, staff, and instructors attending be up to date with Covid vaccinations (per definition of the CDC). For international trips, local laws will apply, so it is important that you confirm you will be fully vaccinated according to the countries on your trip.
Trip Cancellation/Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation/travel insurance for your workshop/trip. It is wise to protect yourself against potential expenses caused by unforeseen circumstances that prevent your workshop attendance or require your early departure. If you choose to forego the purchase of trip cancellation/travel coverage, you are personally liable to cover any associated costs or penalties should you need to cancel your workshop outside of SFW cancellation parameters (up to full value of workshop/trip). Please review our Program Policies below.

If you have pre-existing conditions that need to be covered or need coverage for “any reason” cancellation (commonly known as CFAR insurance), please check with your travel insurance company of choice regarding deadlines and restrictions. It is likely that you will need to purchase coverage within 14 days of paying your workshop/trip deposit.
Reimbursement of non-refundable airline tickets in the event of a workshop cancellation due to low enrollment is not the responsibility of The Workshops. Please check with the office in Santa Fe before making non-refundable travel plans.

Payment and Transfer Policies
NOTE: Santa Fe Workshops continues to closely monitor the public health situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and is following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with the state of New Mexico and the county of Santa Fe, to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, visitors and staff during the pandemic.
Along with the wide variety of online programming currently being offered, in-person workshops are being scheduled and will continue throughout 2023 as restrictions allow. Efforts regarding on-campus sanitation, prevention, monitoring, and precautionary measures are in place so that your experience is as safe and comfortable as possible.
Space in our workshops is limited and we rely on your attendance to make important arrangements and logistical preparations for every workshop. Our participants are important to us and if for any reason you need to withdraw from a workshop or wish to transfer to a different workshop, please notify us in writing (email to info@santafeworkshops.com) as soon as possible.
Payments
A deposit payment is due at the time of your registration to reserve a spot in the workshop. All payments should be made through our website if possible or over the phone by calling (505) 983-1400, ext. 111 with an American Express Card, MasterCard, Visa, or Discover Card. We also accept payment by way of check; please contact the Administration Office for details. Certain workshops require a portfolio review and final acceptance is not confirmed until your portfolio has been received, reviewed, and accepted.
Once the workshop is called a “Go”, participants will receive notification and a statement of account that will specify the balance due and the due date. Santa Fe Workshops (SFW) reserves the right to withdraw any registration if the balance due has not been received within 5 business days of the due date specified on the invoice and will result in no refund. Late payments will be subject to a 5% penalty, applied to the balance due.
There are no exceptions to these policies and SFW is not responsible for cancellations due to medical or other emergencies. Should SFW cancel an itinerary, all fees and deposits are refunded in full. SFW is not responsible for reimbursement of non-refundable airline tickets in the event of a workshop cancellation. Please check on your workshop status before making travel arrangements. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation/travel insurance.
Grace Period
We offer a 48-hour grace period on all new registrations. If you have second thoughts about participating in your workshop within 48 hours of your registration, we will refund your payment, less a $60 processing fee.
Transfers
We will do our best to accommodate transfers for in-person workshops, however we reserve the right to approve or reject any transfer request. Transfer request will only be considered if made within the following time frames, based on the workshop you are transferring from:
- Domestic Workshops – More than 60 days prior to the start date of your workshop
- International Programs – See details below for international trips
- Other Programs – We produce innovative, new programs every year that may require a different cutoff date for transfer requests and withdrawals. See below for the terms of these programs.
All approved transfers for in-person workshops will be subject to a $60 transfer fee (plus applicable tax) and the new workshop or program must be completed within 12 months of the withdrawal.
Program Policies
We provide the following withdrawal and refund policies for our various workshops and programs:
SFW’s decision to run or cancel domestic workshops is made no later than 30 days prior to the start date.
- Withdrawal more than 30 days prior to the start date of your workshop, SFW will refund all payments made, less a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the deposit.
- Withdrawal between 30 and 15 days prior to the start date of the workshop, SFW will retain 50% of the workshop tuition or package price.
- Withdrawal less than 15 days prior to the start date of the workshop will result in no refund.
SFW’s decision to run or cancel workshops in Mexico (San Miguel de Allende and Oaxaca) is made no later than 60 days prior to the start date (subject to change); balances are due no less than 45 days prior to start date.
- Withdrawal more than 60 days prior to the start date of your workshop, SFW will refund all payments made, less a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the deposit.
- Withdrawal between 60 and 45 days prior to the start date of your workshop, SFW will retain 50% of the package price.
- Withdrawal less than 45 days prior to the start date of the workshop will result in no refund.
SFW’s decision to run or cancel online programs is made no later than 7 days prior to the start date.
- Withdrawal more than 30 days prior to the start date of your workshop, SFW will refund your payment, less a $60 processing fee.
- Withdrawal between 30 and 15 days prior to the start date of the workshop, SFW will retain 50% of the workshop tuition.
- Withdrawal less than 15 days out will result in no refund or credit.
Note: Transfers are not available for online classes.
SFW’s decision to run or cancel the Big Sur workshop with Eddie Soloway is made no later than 75 days prior to the start date. Please contact us to check the status of your workshop before making non-refundable travel plans.
The balance for this workshop is due no later than 60 days prior to start date. If you need to cancel your registration, please make note of the following terms for the Big Sur workshop:
- Withdrawal more than 60 days prior to the start date of your workshop, SFW will refund all payments made, less a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the deposit.
- Withdrawal 60 or fewer days prior to the start date of your workshop will result in no refund.
SFW’s decision to run or cancel Cuba trips is made no later than 75 days prior to the start date*. Balances for Cuba trips are due 60 days before the start date**. If for any reason you need to withdraw, please notify us 60 days or more before the start date of your program.
- Withdrawal more than 60 days prior to the start date of your workshop, SFW will refund all payments made, less a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the deposit.
- Withdrawal less than 60 days prior to the start date of the workshop will result in no refund of any fees paid.
- Transfers will be considered if received more than 90 days before the start date of your workshop.
- SFW reserves the right to cancel a reservation for a Cuba trip if full payment has not been received by 60 days before the start date.
*The call date for the Baracoa trip, March 23 – 31, 2023, has been extended to Friday, January 20.
**Balances for the Baracoa trip, March 23 – 31, 2023, will be due on Monday, February 6.
Exploring Turkey: One Grand City and Endless Natural Wonders with Jennifer Spelman
To reserve your space for Exploring Turkey: One Grand City and Endless Natural Wonders with Jennifer Spelman, May 21-31, 2023, a deposit of $1,500 is required at the time of registration. Minimum enrollment for this trip is 8 participants and SFW’s decision to run or cancel this trip will be made no later than December 21, 2022.
We rely on your attendance to make important arrangements and logistical preparations, so if for any reason you need to withdraw, please notify us in writing (send email to info@santafeworkshops.com) before December 21, 2022. At that time, a refund of 50% of the deposit paid will be refunded. The full deposit will be retained for cancellations received anytime between December 21, 2022 and February 21, 2023. The trip balance is due no later than February 21, 2023. If notification of cancellation is made after this date, we must retain all fees paid.
It is required that you purchase trip cancellation/travel insurance for this trip.
Romania: A Photographic Adventure with Eddie Soloway
To reserve your space for Romania: A Photographic Adventure with Eddie Soloway, September 1 – 12, 2023, a deposit of $1,500 is required at the time of registration. Minimum enrollment for this trip is 8 participants and SFW’s decision to run or cancel this trip will be made no later than April 1, 2023.
We rely on your attendance to make important arrangements and logistical preparations, so if for any reason you need to withdraw, please notify us in writing (send email to info@santafeworkshops.com) before April 1, 2023. At that time, a refund of 50% of the deposit paid will be refunded. The full deposit will be retained for cancellations received anytime between April 1, 2023 and June 1, 2023. The trip balance is due no later than June 1, 2023. If notification of cancellation is made after this date, we must retain all fees paid.
It is required that you purchase trip cancellation/travel insurance for this trip.
In Search of Light in India with Jennifer Spelman and Michael Amici
To reserve your space for In Search of Light in India with Jennifer Spelman and Michael Amici, November 8 – 19, 2023, a deposit of $1,500 is required at the time of registration. Minimum enrollment for this trip is 8 participants and SFW’s decision to run or cancel this trip will be made no later than June 8, 2023.
We rely on your attendance to make important arrangements and logistical preparations, so if for any reason you need to withdraw, please notify us in writing (send email to info@santafeworkshops.com) before June 8, 2023. At that time, a refund of 50% of the deposit paid will be refunded. The full deposit will be retained for cancellations received anytime between June 8, 2023 and August 8, 2023. The trip balance is due no later than August 8, 2023. If notification of cancellation is made after this date, we must retain all fees paid.
