Santa Fe Workshops collection of free online events, Creativity Continues features a mid-summer’s presentation by renown British photographer Julian Calverley. His long career as an imagemaker successfully bridges two worlds that rarely meet at such a high level: the precision and technical demands of commercial advertising photography and the emotional, contemplative qualities of fine-art landscape photography.
In this special hour of inspiration and technical process, Julian focuses on his passions for landscape photography. His beautiful images combine craftsmanship, atmosphere, and storytelling in a way that feels both cinematic and deeply personal. His approach is less about finding extraordinary places than developing extraordinary perception. In addition, Julian covers a wide range of practical topics including equipment choices, location pre-planning, light and composition, where to stand, when to wait, what to exclude, and how to express one’s personal response to the landscape, making pictures in bad weather, the use of ND filters and working ‘in camera,’ and his post-production technique.
Julian concludes his presentation with a lively Q & A session with the webinar audience. Even if you can’t make the live event, a recording of it will be available for all those registered.
