Step into this class eager to learn about the mechanics of digital photography and walk out an inspired digital photographer. Beginners welcome!
During the two week program, Josh demystifies the world of digital photography, from image capture and file formatting to editing, processing, social media use and printing. Various aspects of photography are practiced including: depth of field, shutter speeds, portraiture, night photography, file management and post processing techniques within Adobe Lightroom.
Specifically designed for beginners, this workshop focuses on both the technical and creative aspects of digital photography. Participants engage in daily lectures and demonstrations, make images in historic Santa Fe and out in the sweeping landscapes of Northern New Mexico, and take time for group critiques and one-on-one image reviews with Josh, in addition to practicing new skills at their own pace.
Throughout our two weeks together, Josh creates a learning environment that is supportive, inspirational, and contagiously fun. During the first week, he covers camera handling techniques, learning to “see” with a camera, understanding your camera's various modes and when to use them, and downloading and organizing digital files. Our time is divided between the classroom and sessions in the field.
The second week finds us again out on location but also spending more time in the Digital Lab, focusing on perfecting your digital workflow, learning how to bring your artistic creations to life within the computer, outputting to archival inkjet prints, and preparing images for online and social media usage.
By the workshop’s end, you are using your camera intuitively, have developed a digital workflow that serves your needs, and you are on a path to establishing a personal vision and unique sense of style as a photographer.
