Jamie Figueroa is Afro-Taíno Boricua by way of Ohio and a longtime resident of New Mexico. She holds a BFA and an MFA in creative writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) and publishes fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. Her writing has appeared in journals including Epoch, Catapult, and McSweeney’s and is forthcoming in American Short Fiction. Jamie has lectured and taught at University of New Mexico, New Mexico Highlands University, New Mexico State University, Santa Fe Community College, IAIA, and Sierra Nevada College. She is currently an advisor for Goddard College’s MFA of interdisciplinary arts program, within the indigenous/decolonial art concentration.
