After spending some time in the English Language and Literature Faculty of Havana University, Mariannik shifted gears and instead focused on the field of tourism, where she worked for 20 years in some of the best hotels in Cuba.
In 2010, the photography bug bit her. She was particularly attracted to street photography, portraits, and conceptual art. As a result, Mariannik left her tourism job and redirected her efforts into photography. From 2011-2013 Mariannik attended photography and digital post-processing techniques courses at the Creative Photography School of Havana, the Superior Institute of Arts in Havana, the Cuban Association of Social Communicators, and the Cuban Union of Writers and Artists.
Since 2013, Mariannik has participated in four collective photo exhibits held in Havana, and San Mateo, California, and organized two personal exhibits (“My Solar System” and “Silence”) in Naples, Italy, and Havana, respectively.
Mariannik has collaborated as an assistant with Santa Fe Photographic Workshops since 2015, as local lodging and activities organizer, as well as an assistant photographer. She is also the owner and manager of a private rent-a-room business in Old Havana.
