Stella Johnson investigates culture, community, and family while developing lifelong relationships with the people she photographs. Her monograph, Al Sol: Photographs from Mexico, Cameroon, and Nicaragua, was published in 2008. Her photographs are in the collections of the deCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, in Lincoln, Massachusetts; Haggerty Museum of Art, at Milwaukee's Marquette University; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and Portland Museum of Art, in Oregon, among others.
A two-time Fulbright Scholar to Mexico, Stella teaches at Lesley University College of Art and Design and Boston University, and leads workshops in Cuba, Mexico, and Greece. Her website is www.stellajohnson.com.
