Patrick Symmes is the author of two books on the Cuban Revolution, The Boys from Dolores, which made The New York Times’ "10 Best Books" list for 2007, and Chasing Che. As a long-time contributing editor at Harper's, Outside, and Condé Nast Traveler, he has specialized in the Cuban revolution since first visiting the island in 1991, and has chronicled guerrilla armies, revolutionary movements, and closed societies in many parts of the world.
Previously a Harper's Fellow at the UC Berkeley School of Journalism, and a professor of journalism at New York University and the University of Oregon, Patrick writes for magazines including Newsweek, GQ, Mother Jones, The New York Times Magazine, and The Telegraph in London.
