William deBuys’s most recent book, The Last Unicorn: A Search for One of Earth’s Rarest Creatures, was listed by the Christian Science Monitor as one of the ten best non-fiction books of 2015. His other books include A Great Aridness, The Walk, and River of Traps, a 1991 Pulitzer finalist. His first book, Enchantment and Exploitation, was recently reissued in a revised and expanded edition.
From 2003 to 2008, William taught Documentary Studies at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico, and he was a 2008-2009 Guggenheim Fellow. He lives and writes on a small farm in northern New Mexico that he has tended since the 1970s. His website is www.williamdebuys.com.
