Jacob Hessler creates large-scale landscapes that have been described as introspective, nostalgic, and meditative. His work explores both the beauty and devastation of human being's interaction with the earth. In 2007, he graduated from the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography. Afterwards, he assisted photographer Jill Greenberg on numerous high-profile projects, including work for New York Magazine and Wired.
After pursuing a master's degree in graphic design at Parsons the New School for Design, he worked in New York as a commercial photographer and creative director. His first fine-press book, Boundaries, released in the fall of 2017. Boundaries is a collaboration with inaugural poet Richard Blanco, pairing Hessler's images and Blanco's words. Jacob co-manages the boutique-branding firm Hessler Creative. This is his third year teaching at The Workshops. His website is www.jacobhessler.com.
